Porsches and James Gandolfini

With the unfortunate news of the passing of James Gandolfini yesterday I thought it would be good to remember him in one of the best roles he was known for, Tony Soprano in The Sopranos. Tony was a hardened mob boss with a soft side for family. I watched a few episodes with Ray but have yet to really get into the series. I'm sure it will have a revival of fans reminiscing on better times.
Here at Pfanaticle we discussed  The Sopranos in terms or Porsches before. Throughout the series there were at least two spotted. A Porsche 911 Carrera was seen at a beachfront property Tony was purchasing, and a Cayenne S was purchased by Tony for his wife later in the series. Porsches are usually seen as a sign of wealth, so it isn't surprising to me that Tony would be either driving one or purchasing one for a family member to assert his status in the neighborhood.
Gandolfini was a great actor and will be missed. He had a great range of characters to his name and had even started a new project with CBS, where he was a producer. While it's still early to determine his cause of death (this article was written late 6/19/13) he was said to be vacationing with his family in Italy at the time. It would have been nice to see him in a Porsche himself, or with another cameo in a series. We'll miss ya, big guy.
